this looks great!! Your previous site was nice too but, this is refreshing. The layout is easier to navigate and I can see there are some excellent resources here. I’m psyched to see how it develops. Love the leaping pic :-) .

    Jonathan,

What a lovely new website you have created! the colors are beautiful, it’s easy to navigate, and it seems like you have a lot of cool information.

    Sudhir,

I have just started my own wordpress blog to place yoga in a context of intentions and metaphors. Dorothy Cochrane saw my site and introduced me to yours. I’m delighted to find other teachers who want to bring yoga out of the studio, alongside the geese and the snow! My husband and I have attended several of your meditation workshops at her Watering Pond center in Guilford and I take your advise to be aware and to accept what is as the cornerstone of my teachings with students in prison, hospitals, or veterans centers. The practice has made a difference in my life and I hope it will in theirs.

Hi there, Parinda. Good to hear from you! You can send me an email and I can mail them to you with an invoice. I’ve not quite made the leap to online stores! Blessings to you!

  8. Janna says:

Jonathan, when you have a chance, it would be great to hear your thoughts on the differences between doing silent retreats for different lengths of time. Does two months feel different than one month, for instance? It’s always something between a half-day and a lifetime, I suppose, but the time frame subtleties are not clear to me.

    Best,

    Janna

When I finished my last month-long retreat, I would have signed up for another month-long immediately if I’d had the chance. The subtlety of awareness is just exquisite … and maybe kind of addicting. It’s much like when people ask “How long should I meditate?” My response is usually, “How much time to do you have?”

The basic instructions for a non-monastic life are daily practice, retreats and association with like-minded people. I think we come to a sense of what works. For me, as I go through this life journey, I’m more called to retreat. It informs my activity in most powerful ways. The Tibetans do three-year and six-year retreats. Now THAT’S something I’m not sure I’m ready for. But I easily could be! (As long as I get to keep my iphone…)

  10. Janna says:

Thanks for the clarification, Jonathan. Three-year and six-year retreats seems more like a lifestyle change than a retreat to me, but I suppose perspectives change the more you do retreats.
